Why we do what we do

“I didn't know I could be pretty.”

“I never thought I’d get my dream dress. I feel like a princess.”

“I wouldn’t have been able to go to prom if it wasn’t for this organization.”

“When my house burnt and I lost everything, they were there to clothe my family.”

Meet the Board

Behind everything we do is a team of people who truly care. We serve with compassion, respect and a purpose to help restore dignity and hope through clothing and genuine human connection.

Isaiah 61:10

delight greatly in the Lord: my soul rejoices in my God. For he has clothed me with garments of salvation and arrayed in me a robe of his righteousness

  • Joelene Powell (Founder and President) believes the heart of the organization extends beyond clothing distribution. She began in 2023 with a vision of sending youth to prom with confidence by providing formal attire. After assisting with the first prom pop up shop, Sharon Smith (Vice President) experienced the change it brought to each individual, and knew it was an organization she wanted to work with to make an impact in young children lives. In 2024, the organization expanded in providing back to school clothing and events and began partnership with the Stone County Christmas Assistance Program. Since 2023, the Arising N Hope has expanded to helping thousands each year. With rapid grown, Kelly Neugebauer (secretary/Treasuer) was introduced to the non profit and fell in love with the mission after her first volunteering experience. Kelly’s husband James became a crucial member with the mobile prom shops and assisting with the growth of the orginization. Suzie Gonzalo’s involvement began through collaberation with local outreach ministries and has grown into an integral role in supporting community outreach initiatives and serving the board.

  • ‍ ‍Our heart is to reflect God’s love through kindness and compassion, providing clothing that restores dignity and brings hope to those we serve. Arising-N-Hope is here to give a hand up not a handout. Every coat, every dress and every carefully chosen outfit represents dignity, hope and the reminder that someone cares.
